Heatherly chases Group 1 glory in the Oakleigh Plate
Feb 26, 2016
"White Line Fever" has been a quirk of the brilliant black filly but a lot of hard work behind the scenes see's Heatherly head to the Oakleigh Plate as second favourite for Saturdays race. After crushing her opposition by 5 1/2 lengths in the Group 2 Rubiton Stakes she's earned her place in the Group 1 field and returns to Caulfield over the 1100m. Heatherly delivered Katelyn Mallyon the biggest win of her career when winning the Rubiton and the talented jockey retains the ride at 50kg.
Always showing the stable plenty of natural ability from a young age, the 3yo filly has taken a bit of time to mature and her racing manners have gradually improved with each start. Her loyal owners in Barrie and Midge Griffiths were in no rush and their patience has been rewarded with Heatherly's stakes winnings now over $275,000 and the addition of valuable black type to her pedigree for a future breeding career.
We wish everyone involved with the flashy black filly the best of luck.
