Three solid chances at Moonee Valley Friday

Feb 11, 2016

Ellerton Zahra Racing will take a three-horse team to Friday night’s Moonee Valley meeting.

Roll The Ignition faces a tricky task from barrier 12 but the mare will be out to improve an already impressive Moonee Valley record in the Pizza Fellas Handicap (1200m).

The four-year-old mare drops back from BM84 level to BM78 for the Moonee Valley contest, which will be the Casino Prince mare’s fifth run at the venue at which she has recorded two wins and a third.

“Roll The Ignition is going well enough to win but she’s drawn poorly,” Simon Zahra, who trains Roll The Ignition in partnership with Mathew Ellerton, said.

“But she always does her best and likes Moonee Valley so she’s in with a chance.”

Consistent galloper Tempered will step out for the seventh time in his current preparation when he tackles the Danny’s Burgers Handicap (1600m).

Tempered won twice in December before doing well in tough races at Caulfield last month but the son of Hard Spun is one of a field of nine engaged in the $40,000 contest.

“He’s going well and he tries hard but he’ll be rock hard fit for this,” Zahra said.

“He’s been up a while but he continues to work well and his form is excellent so he’ll go well again.”

Former Adelaide stayer Remorse will debut for the stable in the Cool Ridge Handicap (1600m).

“We don’t know a lot about her but she’s been going well leading up to this,” Zahra said. “It might be short of her best distance but she’ll improve on whatever she does.”

Damian Lane will ride Remorse and Tempered while Katelyn Mallyon will partner Roll The Ignition.

Good luck to the owners of all three runners at Moonee Valley.
