Camper continues outstanding run Ellerton Zahra Racing
Nov 26, 2015
Ellerton Zahra Racing’s brilliant week continued when Not A Happy Camper scored a determined win at Bendigo.
The Flemington stable has been in terrific form in a run that began when Rough Justice posted a strong Moonee Valley win last Friday night.
Durendal scored at Ballarat 24 hours later before Pinyarda and Hetuka Zarsho combined for a double at Kilmore.
Not A Happy Camper stepped out in the Irene McParland 100th Birthday Handicap (1300m) at Bendigo and had the services of the champion jockey Damien Oliver.
Oliver kept it simple on Not A Happy Camper, letting the mare find a comfortable rhythm behind the leaders before pushing her into the clear rounding the home turn.
Not A Happy Camper took time to wind up before the powerfully-built mare hit her top in the last 200m as she strode to a comfortable win.
Oliver said trainers Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra had the mare primed for more wins during the summer period.
“I think up to a mile won’t be a problem for her,” Oliver said.
“She’s brave and I think she’s in at the right time of the year for her.
“She responded really well to me and I think she can have a successful preparation at this time of the year.”
Not A Happy Camper’s latest win was her third in 15 starts while the $16,500 winner’s cheque took her prizemoney to more than $80,000.
Congratulations to great stable supporters First Light Racing and all involved with Not A Happy Camper’s thrilling Bendigo success.
