Kilmore double completes terrific three days for Ellerton Zahra

Pinyarda completed a terrific weekend for Ellerton Zahra Racing when he sprinted brilliantly to score first-up at Kilmore.
The four-year-old’s win in the Kilmore & District Community Bank Handicap (1200m) gave Ellerton Zahra Racing its fourth win in three days and completed a Kilmore double for the Flemington stable after Hetuka Zarsho won the Steph Ryan Maiden Plate (1100m).
Pinyarda stepped out for the first time since early June at Kilmore but an awkward barrier (nine) threatened to present apprentice Damien Thornton with a tricky task to get the four-year-old into a prominent position early in the $30,000 contest.
Pinyarda travelled perfectly despite racing close to the speed before sprinting impressively early in the straight, opening a race-winning break that he had no trouble maintaining in the straight to score by three lengths.
Trainers Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra also gave Hetuka Zarsho his first run since July in his $25,000 assignment and the three-year-old duly delivered a decisive victory.
Comeback jockey Chris Symons, fresh from his successful return to riding at Ballarat on Saturday, was the man aboard the son of Sebring, who was a touch wayward in the middle stages.
Symons steered Hetuka Zarsho into a striking position behind the leaders rounding the home turn before the gelding took time to wind up in the first half of the straight.
However, Hetuka Zarsho got his act together late in the race as he strode to a soft one-length win, breaking his maiden at his second outing.
“The stable had a terrific weekend and it’s great to see all the team starting to fire at the same time,” Zahra said.
“It’s perfect timing with so much racing coming up in the next couple of months and it’s going to be an exciting time for us.
“The staff have done a great job to have the horses ready to go and prepared to capitalise on the good prizemoney around.”
Congratulations to the owners of both horses and all involved with Ellerton Zahra Racing’s success over the past three days.
