Joan wins for Joan at Moe
Sep 25, 2017
Her namesake was on course and Joan Constance did the job again with another impressive success at Moe.
Joan Constance is named after the mother-in-law of Epona Park principal and terrific stable supporter Jeff Allis and the lady herself made the trip to Moe to cheer on the four-year-old.
The equine Joan Constance was a strong winner at her previous outing at Sale and the mare landed another Gippsland target when she claimed the WIN Network BM58 Handicap (1017m).
Chris Symons stuck with Joan Constance and rode her differently to her previous start, settling the daughter of Stratum off the pace after she led throughout at Sale.
Symons was happy to plot a course well off the fence before taking Joan Constance to the outside on the home turn from where she outsprinted her rivals in the straight to score by three-quarters of a length.
“She’s absolutely flying,” Symons said of the Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra-trained galloper.
“It’s great for the team. Jeff has been involved with this industry for a while now and it’s great to see him getting runs on the board.
“She’s going super. I think the 1000m helped her and she can progressively step up in distance.
“She has always shown ability but I think getting that confidence up today is definitely going to help her.”
Joan Constance’s Moe win was her second in as many starts since joining the Ellerton Zahra Racing team while the $10,800 winner’s cheque took her stakes tally to more than $33,000.
Congratulations to Joan and the Epona Park team on another win in partnership with Ellerton Zahra Racing.
