Sword out to Light up Adelaide in Oaks

She started her career as a Group 3-winning sprinter but Sword Of Light’s amazing development has taken her within touching distance of an Oaks victory.
Sword Of Light won the Blue Diamond Preview at Group 3 level over 1000m at her second start but the three-year-old will represent trainers Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra in the Australasian Oaks at Morphettville.
The daughter of Epsom Derby winner New Approach stretched out to 1600m as a spring three-year-old but has excelled over the trip with wins at Caulfield at her last two starts.
Sword Of Light will tackle the 2000m trip for the first time in the Australasian Oaks but Zahra said the filly’s terrific attitude should ensure she runs out the journey.
“She has come a long way as she has matured,” Zahra said.
“She has developed into a beautifully relaxed filly that travels really well for the riders and racing like she does will give her every chance.”
Damian Lane will be aboard Sword Of Light again at Morphettville after piloting her to her last-start win at Caulfield a fortnight ago.
Barrier six will also help Lane’s chances of getting Sword Of Light into the perfect position in running.
“Damian knows her well and is riding extremely well at the moment so we think she is going to be very competitive,” Zahra said.
Good luck to Sword Of Light’s owners and all involved with getting her to the Group I Australasian Oaks.
