More Cranbourne success for EZR

Jan 06, 2017

Cranbourne continued to be a great hunting ground for Ellerton Zahra Racing after Tres gave the stable another victory at the circuit.

Trainers Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra prepared a winning treble at the previous Cranbourne meeting before Tres gave the Flemington victory a fourth win in eight days on the course.

The winners at the previous meeting all raced near the lead but Damian Lane adopted different tactics on Tres for her first attempt at 1400m in the Ductform 3YO Maiden Plate (1400m).

Lane allowed Tres to find her feet midfield while a strong gallop prevailed up front for the first 900m before easing her into clear running on the home turn.

Tres wound up early in the straight before unleashing an impressive finishing burst, swamping the leaders before running away to score by more than three lengths.

“She’s a nice type of filly and she’s just taking a little bit of time to come to hand,” Lane said.

“She’s very green and raw and the more she steps out in distance, the more she will improve.

“It was only her third start and she’s doing everything right so far. She’s still green so there’s plenty of improvement to come.”

Tres’ maiden win came at her third start while the prizemoney and bonuses for the victory tallied $36,150 on a profitable night for the daughter of Moshe.

Congratulations to wonderful stable supporters Barrie and Midge Griffiths on another win in partnership with Ellerton Zahra Racing.
