See Me Fly sprouts wings to score at Kyneton

Dec 08, 2016

The aptly-named See Me Fly sprouted wings late to score a determined second-up win at Kyneton.

The lightly-raced galloper had only had seven starts before the Bet365 BM64 Handicap (1100m) but See Me Fly managed to notch his second win with a powerful final 200m.

A good speed left jockey Jamie Mott happy to let See Me Fly settle behind midfield early in the $23,000 contest, which was run on a heavy (8) track despite the meeting being early in the summer.

Mott took See Me Fly to the outside to improve from the 500m but the son of Sebring still had plenty to do when the field entered the straight.

See Me Fly took time to wind up before producing an irresistible finish to get home narrowly in the last few bounds.

“They really went flat out in the race and I didn’t expect them to go that quick,” Mott said of the Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra-trained galloper.

“I got a long way back and he was actually struggling to keep up with them so it was a great effort. He was at his top most of the way but he dug deep and finished well.

“He might be better over a bit further when he can get into a good rhythm and finish off even better.”

See Me Fly’s latest win earned connections a $12,650 winner’s cheque, which took the gelding’s overall earnings to more than $34,000.

Congratulations to terrific stable supporters First Light Racing and all involved with See Me Fly’s great Kyneton success.
