Another 3rd-up win for Sword Of Justice at Sale
Nov 15, 2016
The third run of Sword Of Justice’s preparation proved successful again when the four-year-old scored another win at Sale.
Sword Of Justice broke his maiden with a comfortable third-up success at Kyneton in April before notching his second victory at the same stage of his latest preparation.
The gelding was thereabouts in his first two runs of the campaign at Cranbourne and Mornington before Sword Of Justice returned to Sale for the Pantac Protective Services BM64 Handicap (1210m).
Chris Symons travelled to Sale to ride the son of Medaglia D’Oro in the $23,000 contest and the experienced rider made the most of a quick beginning to have Sword Of Justice handy to the speed to the home turn.
Sword Of Justice found a break at the 250m before holding his rivals to record a strong 1 ¼ length win.
Symons said he and trainers Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra did not plan to have Sword Of Justice as close as he was in the six-horse field but circumstances panned out well.
“He’s a horse that was disappointing in his first two runs this prep, but today in the small field, he had all the favours,” Symons said.
“It definitely wasn’t the plan the be on-pace but it was the way he began and I left him there.
“He hits his top and maintains it and it’s good to see him get a win on the board.”
Sword Of Justice’s win earned connections $12,650 in stakes, taking the sprinter’s prizemoney tally to more than $73,000.
Congratulations to Contract Racing on yet another win in partnership with Ellerton Zahra Racing.
