Dream result for Crystal at Pakenham
May 26, 2016
Developing galloper Crystal Dreamer improved his consistent record with a strong win on the Pakenham Synthetic track.
Trainers Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra had success at the previous Pakenham Synthetic meeting when Constant Return scored before a power failure caused the abandonment of that fixture.
The lights were shining brightly for Crystal Dreamer’s win in the GG Engineering Class 1 Handicap (1200m), which took the gelding’s record to two wins and two seconds from five starts with his only blemish coming in a strong race at Caulfield on Boxing Day.
Ellerton and Zahra spelled Crystal Dreamer after the Caulfield outing before the three-year-old resumed with a solid second in BM64 company on the Geelong Synthetic track on May 10.
Damian Lane made the trip to Pakenham to ride the son of Stratum in the $25,000 race, making the most of a good beginning to have Crystal Dreamer parked midfield for the first half of the event.
Lane took Crystal Dreamer wide to make his run rounding the home turn before the promising galloper wore down the leader to score by a half-length.
“He hard to work hard to win that but the pleasing thing about it was the way he knuckled down to his job late in the race,” Zahra said.
“He showed a good will to win and we couldn’t be happier with that sort of effort.
“The way he finished off, he might get out over a bit further this preparation.”
Crystal Dreamer’s win was the latest for Ellerton Zahra Racing in partnership with wonderful stable supporters Contract Racing while the handy performer took his stakes tally to more than $48,000 with his latest cheque.
Congratulations to all involved with Crystal Dreamer’s impressive Pakenham victory.
