Iamhere completes double success at Sale

Feb 16, 2016

Smart mare Iamhere made the perfect start to life with Ellerton Zahra Racing when she scored an emphatic victory at Sale.

Iamhere joined the Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra stable less than a month before her Sale outing but the four-year-old wasted no time showing her new trainers her ability.

The daughter of I Am Invincible stepped out for her first run in seven weeks when she took on seven rivals in the Sale Water Specialists BM64 Handicap (1110m) but emerged a dominant winner.

Jockey Damien Lane made the trek to Sale to ride Iamhere and gave her the perfect trip handy to the speed before she dashed away in the straight to score by more than three lengths.

“She hadn’t been with us long so we didn’t really know much about her,” Zahra said.

“She pulled up lame after her last start but she obviously got over that quickly because she showed she was back to her best.

“We’ll take the next couple of weeks to learn more about her but she’s done a terrific job for us first time out.”

Iamhere’s easy victory completed a double for the stable after Gin Lizzie proved too strong for her opposition in the Pantac Protective Services BM64 Handicap (1210m).

The honest mare won fresh back in December but started at double-figure odds at Sale despite being one of only five runners in the $23,000 contest.

Jockey Chris Symons decided to stalk the leaders on Gin Lizzie before sending her three-wide to challenge the front-runners on the home turn.

Gin Lizzie gave plenty under Chris’s riding to score by a length, notching her third win from 17 starts.

“She’s honest and it’s great to see her get back to winning form,” Zahra said.

“We gave her a little bit of a break after her last run at Kyneton and that’s all she needed to improve.

“She races well fresh and showed that again.”

Congratulations to the owners of both horses and all involved with the stable’s dual success at Sale.
