Two in a row for See Me Fly

Dec 23, 2016

Ellerton Zahra Racing is as hot as Melbourne’s weather after See Me Fly gave the stable another success for the week leading up to Christmas at Cranbourne.

Sammy The Snake, Schilleraine and Meadow Sprite had already notched victories in the previous three days before See Me Fly finished off strongly to claim the TAB BM64 Handicap (1200m).

See Me Fly handled heavy going well when scoring at Kyneton at his previous outing but switching back to good ground brought a similar result at Cranbourne.

Jamie Mott, who has forged a good partnership with Ellerton Zahra Racing in recent weeks, was aboard See Me Fly and gave the gelding a chance to find his feet while a smart speed prevailed early in the $25,000 race.

Mott brought See Me Fly to the outside for a cart into the race rounding the home turn before the promising galloper charged home to beat the handy Broadway And First by a neck.

“He’s a winner. He really tries hard,” Mott said.

“There was good speed on tonight and I was able to get him into a nice enough spot and he was nice and relaxed.

“I had the other horse (Broadway And First) in front of me but I thought he was going to get him easily on the home turn but he fought hard.

“But my bloke just loves winning.”

See Me Fly’s second straight win earned his large band of owners a $13,750 winner’s cheque, which took the developing galloper’s stakes tally to more than $47,000 with the promise of plenty more to come.

Congratulations to See Me Fly’s owners, including the team at First Light Racing, on another success in partnership with Ellerton Zahra Racing.
