Three wins in three days for Ellerton Zahra Racing

Dec 23, 2016

Meadow Sprite continued Ellerton Zahra Racing’s Christmas roll with her comfortable success at Kyneton.

The four-year-old became Ellerton Zahra Racing’s third winner in as many days leading up to Christmas after Sammy The Snake saluted at Sandown and Schilleraine got the money at Sale.

Meadow Sprite broke her maiden with a comfortable win at Ballarat on November 21 before notching another win in BM58 company at Kyneton, with a good effort at Wangaratta between the two victories.

Katelyn Mallyon rode Meadow Sprite to her maiden success but her brother Andrew was aboard Meadow Sprite in the oddly-named #alliisthebest Stakes BM58 Handicap (1450m).

Mallyon had to ask Meadow Sprite to work forward to race behind the speed from barrier eight but once settled, the daughter of Artie Schiller was always going to be hard to beat.

Meadow Sprite hit the lead on the home turn before comfortably holding her opposition in the straight to score by the best part of two lengths.

“She was well-placed today,” Mallyon said.

“After we got around that first corner she was able to get into a nice rhythm. I was happy to ride her to suit herself

“It was just a matter of timing her run so I didn’t drag the field up to the leader and set it up for something else.

“She was good to the line.”

The four-year-old’s second win came at her second start and earned connections a $9600 winner’s cheque, taking her stakes tally to more than $25,000.

Congratulations to great stable supporters Contract Racing on another win in partnership with Ellerton Zahra Racing.
