Justice for Sword in Kyneton victory

Apr 23, 2016

Sword Of Justice put it all together when leading home an Ellerton Zahra Racing quinella at Kyneton.

Sword Of Justice had place twice in his previous five starts but had always shown trainers Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra good ability as evidenced by his second at Wangaratta and third at Sale.

The son of Medaglia D’Oro had excuses when he was caught wide and lost a tooth when unplaced at Pakenham at his previous outing but everything went right in the Trevor Else Maiden Plate (1200m).

Heavyweight rider Jamie Mott gave Sword Of Justice the perfect run midfield before the three-year-old sprinted to a comfortable win over his stablemate Robert De Hero.

“Not much went Sword Of Justice’s way at Pakenham but he showed what he can do when he gets the right run,” Zahra said.

“Jamie gave him every chance and the horse was more than good enough.

“The way he relaxed and was strong through the line, he might be ready for a step up to 1400m or maybe even a bit further in time.

“He’s starting to work it all out and he’s going the right way.”

Sword Of Justice continued a great season for his dam Joyeuse after the gelding’s half-sister Sword Of Light won the Group 3 Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) during an impressive two-year-old campaign.

Congratulations to Sword Of Justice’s owners – terrific stable supporters Contract Racing – and all involved with the promising galloper’s breakthrough win.
